How to Prolong the Service Life of the Die Casting Mould

Mould ArticlesThis article will discuss how to prolong the service life of the die-casting mould from three aspects namely material, design and manufacture. The service life of a die casting mould is a very important indicator when the user considers the quality of a mould. At the same time, it is a key factor that greatly influences the economic benefit of the die casting industry. Therefore, to improve the service life of a mould is of great help for the economic benefits and social benefits. It is worthwhile doing some research about how to prolong the service life of this mould.

There are a lot of factors that affect the die-casting mould. From the perspective of the operational performance, the failure of the mould is mainly shown by the following situations. What comes first is that the mould becomes old and brings about the cracking. Next, because the mould cracks, it can not be used. Thirdly, because the mould often has various problems, it can not be used. As for the main factors that result in the breakage of the die casting mould, they can be discussed as follow: during the operation, the mould is attacked by the aluminium liquid with high temperature and high pressure. Besides, because the aluminium liquid has high temperature, the mould expands when heated and contracts when cooled all the time. Therefore, the damage of the mould is mainly caused by the attack, press, compression and expansion. According to the reasons, the service life of a die-casting mould can be prolonged through reducing the attacking speed, pressure, temperature and so on. Read the rest of this entry »

Rotational Moulding – The Ideal Process For Manufacturing Hollow Plastic Products

Mould ArticlesWhatever industry you work in, there is a strong likelihood that plastic components play a part in the work you do. From oil and fuel tanks to cabs for tractors and JCBs, from pipes and ducts to medical equipment, plastic parts are everywhere. Companies are always on the lookout for more reliable and cost-efficient ways of mass-producing the components they need.

Rotational moulding is a particularly cost-effective process for manufacturing hollow plastic products. Because this process is so versatile and very little waste is produced, costs are low compared to other plastic manufacturing processes, such as blow moulding or injection moulding.

How the rotational moulding process works

Believe it or not, the process which is used to create such a versatile range of plastic products was originally developed for creating chocolate Easter eggs. Although the technology is far more sophisticated these days, the basic rotational moulding process remains the same. Read the rest of this entry »
